SOW: inside from April to early May in deep pots, seed depth 15mm, or from late April to June outside

 

GROW: harden off when about 15cm tall and after frost danger has passed.  Plant them in a block with the plants and rows about 30-50 cm apart.  Sweetcorn is wind pollinated, in your garden you can use the tassels to dust the pollen onto the silks for the best set and filled cobs. 

 

EAT: cobs are ready to harvest when the juice from a kernel is ‘milky’.  Clear juice means it isn’t ripe enough.   If the cobs are over-ripe they will be less sweet & tender and the juice becomes thicker

Lovely large cobs are produced early in the sweetcorn season, you could be picking from mid-August in to September.  The plants are sturdy, medium height and are reliable croppers.  This variety has a good reputation for sweetness and is a popular choice, especially in cooler areas

This is a lovely early variety that can see you picking cobs from mid august into the first part of September.  The plants are shorter than most others & they will produce some tillers both of which make this a good super-sweet choice for smaller gardens

These rich yellow cobs are a very manageable and tasty 18-20cm long. The kernels are small in small in size but big on flavour. This super sweet variety does best in the southern half of the UK as it takes a little more time to grow. Price for 20 seeds.

If you love baby sweet corn then this is the perfect choice for you. Pick the little cobs at about 10cm, when the tassels are just showing and before the grains start to swell.
