This is one of the most popular butternut squashes and deservedly so. Pick the fruits at about 15cm long; they have a bulbous end with rich orange flesh and a delicious flavour, uniquely sweet. They store well too.
Waltham Butternut does take a while to grow, about 15 weeks, but as the saying goes – good things come to those that wait.
