Justly awarded an AGM Alicante is one of Britains (and our) most popular tomatoes. It produces reliable heavy crops of smooth, medium sized fruits with a good flavour, maturing quite early. If you have not grown toms before this is one of the best varieties to start out with. Indeterminate.
Price for 12 seeds
SOW: about 6-8 weeks before the last frost is expected, into modules (cover or put on a windowsill). We transplant to pots when large enough to handle and grow on until ready to harden off and plant after frost danger has passed.
GROW: plant in the greenhouse or in a sunny sheltered part of your garden. For the best flavour keep soil evenly damp (try not to over-water or overfeed). Alicante, being indeterminate, will grow tall and will need supporting. It will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season. Only pinch out the side shoots if you prefer to do so.
EAT: enjoy the freshest of flavours.
