The history behind this variety

Originated from a cross between a kale, brussels sprout and then recrossed

with purple sprouting broccoli. This breeding was found of interest by Charles Darwin and mentioned

in his writings of the Gardeners Chronical of 1860, and his book Animals and Plants under Domestication in 1868.

A hardy vegetable for winter use. This is one of the best open pollinated varieties available. This variety grows to 45cm with densely curled leaves. A Superb tasty choice for a smaller space. Price for 12 seeds

There is no escaping the price but Emerald Ice is so worth it as this variety is rapidly gaining attention as the best kale of all and that is not an exaggeration.
