SOW: where they are to flower (in situ) during March and April depending on the weather and your location – ideally when the nighttime temperature will not fall much below 10°C. Can sow in sheltered places in September to overwinter. Germination takes about 2 weeks or so.

GROW:  perfect for filling in gaps, the front edges of borders or along the edge of your veg beds.  Thin when young and carefully transplant those thinnings to other spots

ENJOY: an excellent cut flower for a posy vase.  Do leave some seed heads in autumn for the local birds to enjoy

Cosmos Daydream becomes covered with masses of dreamy delicate flowers all summer long and into the autumn too: each has a central ring of deepest rose moving outwards to shades of pale pink and finally a creamy white edge.  Simply deadhead to prolong flowering and encourage new flower buds and when you reach the season's end, don't be too quick to pull them up as birds (in particular Goldfinches) love to snack on their seedheads.

First decide where you would like your blanket of flowers then weed and dig the soil thoroughly to a fine tilth.  Mix the seed with about 4g of sharp sand or vermiculite – this will help mix the seeds and show you where you have sown them.  To make it easier to look after your flowers make drills so that your plants will grow in rows (helps with weeding) or simply broadcast over the area.
