Couer de Bouef is an outstanding heirloom variety that makes a superb slicing tom with its meaty flesh and colour from greeny orange to red. SOW: we start ours about 6-8 weeks before the last frost is expected sowing in modules (cover or put on a windowsill). We transplant to pots when large enough to handle and grow on until ready to harden off and plant after frost danger has passed.
GROW: plant in the greenhouse or in a sunny sheltered part of your garden. For the best flavour keep soil evenly damp and don’t overfeed. Couer De Bouef, being indeterminate, will grow tall and will need supporting. It will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season. There is no need to pinch out the side shoots unless you prefer to do so.
