What can I say… unique does not do this Brown Russian justice but it is DELICIOUS so don’t be put off as it is well worth growing this heirloom! The skin is whitish yellow until the cucumbers get about 15cm long and then it turns a russet brown colour: crisp and sweet. Price for 4 seeds.
SOW & GROW: inside in April/early May in individual pots, keep moist (not waterlogged) and warm. If planting outside, harden off once they have 2/3 leaves; they prefer a sunny and sheltered site and you may need to protect them from wind while they settle in. Mulch if possible, watering should be via a pot or bottle sunk beside the plant to keep the stem dry.
EAT: harvest and enjoy the fruits from about 12cm long, you will notice the skin changing colour once they reach 15cm or so but they keep their delicious sweet flavour at this larger size
