Keep it simple yet full of flavour with AGM winner Green Magic. Sow in March and April and harvest your crop from June to early August. This had a reputation for producing top quality side-shoots, we certainly enjoyed them!. Price for 20 seeds.
SOW: in March and April, we start them in pots for planting out at the 2/3 leaf stage (1-2 weeks after sowing).
GROW: as with all calabrese they like steady watering while they grow. Green Magic reaches maturity after 10-12 weeks from planting out. Cut the tight main head just before the flowers open, and it will then produce excellent smooth stemmed side shoots for several weeks.
EAT: we like to lightly steam our calabrese and enjoy it the flavour fresh but it can also be frozen. To Freeze – blanch for 2 minutes, plunge into cold water, drain and pack.
EXTEND YOUR SEASON simply combine this variety, Green Magic, with a later sowing of Blue Wind or Belstar.
