Summer Isle has a lovely sweet and mild flavour (Japanese bunching onion type), with the added benefit of being early maturing and reputed to be less pungent. Fantastic in your salads and also as a stir-fry ingredient. Sow throughout the growing season (March to September) in succession for summer and autumn harvesting. An AGM winner

SOW & GROW: from March to September in the open. The later sowings may be protected by cloches in the winter weather. Sow sparingly to minimise thinning, make a series of sowings every few weeks for a succession of salad onions through the summer and autumn.
EAT: pull as needed. This variety is reputed to be less pungent than other varieties: we find that Summer Isle is fantastic in salads. This variety also makes a great stir-fry ingredient. We often freeze spring onions after we cut them into strips to add to oriental dishes at another time.
