Blue Solaise is a traditional French variety that is extremely hardy.  It has deep blue/purple leaves on a thick white stem.  A fabulous late variety cropping March to May, a personal favourite.

Price for 50 seeds

SOW: from February (indoors) to early June for harvest from the following March to May. You can sow this variety a little later to extend harvesting. We sow our leeks in modules at 5-10mm seed depth.

GROW: After 10-15 weeks, when they are large enough (about 20cm tall), plant out one leek per 15cm deep hole made with a dibber or stick.  Water the leek into the hole and let the soil wash in but try not to get soil in between the leaves.  It sounds fiddly but leeks are worth the trouble.  If it is dry after planting water gently every day but otherwise just leave them to grow!  For mini leeks sow & grow in situ and pull when pencil thick.

ENJOY: leeks can be lifted when you need them so you can enjoy them fresh.
