Red Wizard F1 (Baby Leaf Pak Choi)

In stock

£0.90 / pack(s)

Red Wizard is one of the fastest baby leaves you can grow at 20-25 days and still full of flavour and goodness combined with a rich colour that is retained through hotter weather.  Price for 100 seeds.

SOW & GROW: at almost any time of the year although winter crops will need protection.  You can sow a pinch in a pot every week to give you a meal at a time or sow a short row weekly and harvest as you need them: those that are left will simply grow larger but harvest by 7 weeks.  They prefer a sunny position, sow 5mm deep, and keep the roots moist particularly in dry weather and remember to protect from snails!

EAT: pop into salads or stir fry adding towards the end of cooking with stems needing about a minute longer than the leaves

Rubino F1 (Baby leaf Spinach)

In stock

£0.75 / pack(s)

The pretty red-veined spoon shaped leaves of Rubino will brighten up your salad mixes: the veins are a brighter colour in the spring and autumn, but the flavour is lovely all year round. And with leaves ready in just over 3 weeks this is a brilliant speedy choice.  Price for 100 seeds.

SOW & GROW: your first sowing can be as early as February (protect with cloches or sow in a greenhouse for the most tender of leaves at this time of year). You can continue to sow at any time to the end of September.  By sowing a little seed every few weeks you can have a regular supply of leaves through the spring, summer and autumn.  This baby leaf is best sown in situ: you can trim with scissors and let it regrow but it is easier to sow a little and often!

Serge: for pea shoots (baby leaf)

In stock

£0.75 / pack(s)

Scrummy sweet tasting shoots and tendrils, indeed it produces tendrils vigorously and being semi leafless it makes it a top choice for pea shoots.  After trimming they will resprout so even more delicious shoots will grow.  We suggest sowing a pot every week so that you can rotate your containers for trimming regularly – treat them like any other cut-&-come-again.  You can also grow these on as a vining pea for pods which you can pick young as a mangetout or shell for sweet flavoured mature peas…but that would deprive you of the pea shoots.  So many options, so much deliciousness!

Price for 100 seeds

How to grow pea shoots – simply find a container 5-7cm deep. Fill with seed compost and sow the seeds 1.5cm deep with only a small gap between seeds.  Now place the container on a windowsill (or in a coldframe) and keep moist. The pea shoots will be ready to harvest 3-4 weeks after sowing, when 7-10cm tall. Snip off and add to your salads or pop in a stir fry.  Water after trimming to help them grow again.
