The long white tapering roots have a smooth texture and delicious flavour,thus it is sometimes known as vegetable oyster. Slice and fry or boil until tender or use in soups and pies, it is an ingredient often used in classic French cuisine. Lift in the autumn & winter as needed and use them fresh. Cut back the foliage in the autumn to produce tasty shoots and flowers that can be enjoyed like asparagus in the spring. Price for 50 seeds

The delicate nutty flavoured flesh is a good source of vitamin A. The long roots have a dark skin colour. Although originating in Spain it is often found as an ingredient in French recipes. This plant can be treated as a perennial. Sow April-May for harvesting in the autumn onwards, leaving small roots to grow another year. It can also be grown as a companion plant as it is thought to ward off carrot fly. Price for 40 seeds
