We grow our beans in triple rows which seems to help keep the taller varieties standing on their own even on a windy site! We start all our beans in modules and then plant out.

This versatile bean is a member of the Aquadulce family making it ideal for Autumn sowing or indeed Spring sowing. Over wintering will give you an earlier crop otherwise harvest in early to mid summer. It has long pods with 6/7 white beans giving you a high yield, they are a good choice for freezing. This traditional variety is renowned for its reliability and flavour. This heavy cropping bean (5-8 beans per pod) is a tall plant (to 135cm), although you can pinch out the tops (and use as greens) to restrict the height. Price for 40 seeds

Fast growing but not too tall thus a good choice if your beans have been battered by the wind in previous years. this AGM winning variety grows well in all conditions. The plants can grow to 90cm tall but if you have an exposed garden simply nip out the tops as soon as four clusters of flowers are showing.
