Multicoloured Carpet Flower Mix

In stock

£3.00 / pack(s)

Grow your own carpet of flowers in a rich tapestry of colours. This colossal mix of 28 annuals is perfect for creating resplendent summer borders or edges (height 20-40cm).  Sow these between March and June and the flowers will appear 6-12 weeks later.  Look forward to Linaria, Dwarf Morning Glory, Eschscholzia, annual Alyssum, annual Lupin, Zinnia, Silene, Coreopsis, Dimorphotheca, Sanvitalia… and lots lots more!  Sufficient seed for 2sqm

Chose a location for your Multicoloured Carpet to grow – a border, along a path, in front of a patio, beside the front door… now weed and dig the soil thoroughly to a fine tilth.  Mix the seed with about 4g of sharp sand or vermiculite – this will help mix the seeds and show you where you have sown them.  You can make drills so that your plants will grow in rows (to help with weeding) or simply broadcast over the area for a more naturalised and relaxed atmosphere – almost as easy as ‘throw and grow’.  Sow from March (will take a little longer to come into flower in colder weather) through April and May and even in June (summer sowing will need a bit more care and watering as the plants will need to establish roots when it could be hot and dry).  Sit back and enjoy your resplendent blooms – a veritable carpet of colour.

Shady Place Blooms

In stock

£3.00 / pack(s)

Just add Shady Place Blooms to spaces under trees, in the shadow of a house, wall, fence or hedge for a veritable delight of flowers.  This wonderfully decorative mix boasts 12 annual and 16 perennials that are as easy as ‘throw and grow’ - amongst them you will find Virginian Stock, Balsam, Dame’s Rocket, Sweet alyssum, Wild Poppy, Common Mallow, Sweet pea, Foxglove, Aquilegia, Violet, Lobelia, Campanula carpatica… and more.  Flower height will range from 40cm to 80cm tall.  Sufficient seed for 2sqm

First decide which shady place you would like to add blooms too.  It is likely that the ground will be quite compacted and difficult to dig – don’t panic.   First remove weeds such as nettles and brambles then, using a strong rake, disturb the surface as best you can.   Mix the seed with about 4g of sharp sand or vermiculite – this will help mix the seeds and show you where you have sown them – keep remixing your seeds as you sow or the heavier seeds will all end up at the bottom.  Use the rake again to mingle the seeds with the soil surface and if it is very dry use a watering can with a rose to water in.  Now let the seeds do their magic. Resow every 2-3 years to keep a good range of blooms and take out any weeds which might try to sneak in.

WHEN TO SOW

Probably best when sown in autumn (September to November) with flowering from spring onwards in the following years, If sowing between March and June you will see flowers from the first summer, then from the spring after that. Resow every 2-3 years to keep a good range of blooms and take out any weeds which might try to sneak in.
