This variety, Amsterdam Forcing, can be used under cloches to produce some of the earliest carrots of the season. Equally it can be sown successionaly, until as late as July, to extend the fresh harvest. Pull early for baby carrots or leave a little longer to enjoy a larger crop. This variety also freezes well. Sow carrots very thinly & 10mm deep in a prepared drill – these carrots will need thinning to 8-10cm apart so the more thinly sown the better!  They can take up to 21 days to germinate so you can mark where they are by sowing alternate rows with a much faster crop… a baby leaf or an oriental variety are good choices as they will be harvested before they can possibly shade or crowd your carrots.

Fresh dug carrots for Christmas (as long as your ground does not freeze completely solid) this AGM winner is happy down to -10°C without straw and is perfect for harvesting from November to early February (sow in June/July for a Christmas crop).
