Zinnia Giant Cactus lives up to its name with big, bold blooms made up of soft, spiky petals that give a full, feathery look. The cheerful mix of colours adds real punch to borders and makes an excellent addition to the cutting garden.

SOW: in trays or pots from March to April. Cover seeds lightly with compost, perlite or vermiculite, and keep at around 18°C. Germination usually takes 1–2 weeks. Once seedlings are big enough to handle, pot them on—take care to minimise root disturbance. Or, from May/June, sow thinly direct into a sunny bed after the last frost.
GROW: harden off indoor-raised plants before planting out at about 30cm apart in rich soil and full sun. Thin out direct-sown seedlings as they grow. Zinnias love warmth and good soil—and will reward you with bold blooms right through summer.
ENJOY: a top choice for cut flowers with flair – long-lasting and full of colour. Bees and butterflies love them too, so they’re just as valuable left in the garden.
