Little Leaves, Big Flavour Collection
Why wait for full-sized leaves when there’s so much flavour to enjoy while they’re young? This collection brings together six very different baby leaves, from sweet pea shoots and mild, nutty quinoa to colourful kale, punchy salad rapini and speedy pak choi.
Grow them for quick pickings, plenty of colour and lots of variety for salads, sandwiches and stir-fries. You don’t need a huge amount of space either, making baby leaves a very easy way to keep something fresh coming into the kitchen.
Italiko Rosso Chicory – a real looker, with dark green serrated leaves and striking red stems and ribs. Pick from around 5cm tall for colourful young leaves with plenty of character. (100 seeds)
Quinoa – something a little different for the salad bowl! The young leaves have a mild flavour with a gentle nuttiness and can be eaten raw or cooked. They’re happy growing in pots too, even on a windowsill. (400 seeds)
Red Ruble Kale – those deeply serrated wine-red leaves bring fabulous colour while they’re young. Start picking from around six weeks and they’ll resprout for more than one harvest. (100 seeds)
Red Wizard F1 Pak Choi – one for the impatient! Richly coloured, flavour-packed baby leaves can be ready in just 20–25 days, perfect for salads or adding to a quick stir-fry. (100 seeds)
Salad Rapini – tender young leaves with pretty pinkish stems and a peppery little kick, followed by hints of kale and broccoli. A speedy way to add a bit more interest to your salads. (2000 seeds)
Serge Pea Shoots – sweet, tender shoots and curling tendrils that are delicious snipped fresh. Better still, you can sow them all year round for a quick crop whenever you fancy one. (100 seeds)
