Easy to grow, Zinnia Dahlia Flowered Mix produces generous blooms with broad, velvety petals in rich, vivid shades. The semi-double flowers have a tidy, structured look that stands out in beds and borders without taking over. With sturdy stems, they're a brilliant pick for late summer borders, cutting gardens, or anywhere you want a bit of drama and cheer. They thrive in full sun, keep going well into autumn, and are loved by pollinators too.
🌸 Flowering: July to September/October (first frosts)
📏 Height: to 70cm
🌿Annual
Sow: in trays or pots from March to April. Cover seeds lightly with compost, perlite or vermiculite, and keep at around 18°C. Germination usually takes 1–2 weeks. Once seedlings are big enough to handle, pot them on—take care to minimise root disturbance. Or, from May/June, sow thinly direct into a sunny bed after the last frost.
Grow: harden off indoor-raised plants before planting out at about 30cm apart in rich soil and full sun. Thin out direct-sown seedlings as they grow. Zinnias love warmth and good soil—and will reward you with bold blooms right through summer.
Enjoy: these are great for cutting – sturdy stems and long-lasting flowers mean they hold up well in a vase. Their bold colours bring energy to the garden, and the open blooms are a welcome stop for bees and butterflies.
