Terrain has been creating a buzz and not just because bees love the nectar & pollen rich flowers: it is the most mildew resistant variety there is, plus it is a heavy cropper with 2 pods per node, and tucked away inside each pod are 7 or 8 tasty sweet peas. Whilst early sowing from February is possible, it is the later sowings that will give you fresh peas into mid autumn.
SOW
Early sowings from February are possible, otherwise April to June. Last sowing late July or early August will crop in October to early November.
We start all our peas in pots: 2-3 seeds in each at 30-50mm seed depth. You can sow peas in situ but wait until the soil has started to warm up. Sowing every 4-5 weeks will give you fresh peas over the whole season.
GROW
Pot sown plants need to be hardened off before planting out. Space pot clumps 15-20cm apart and individual peas plants 10cm apart. Terrain grows to about 90cm tall. Peas like moisture and will tolerate light shade. Water in dry summers, increasing the amount a little once they have started to flower. Pick regularly to encourage more growth.
ENJOY
You should enjoy a heavy crop of 7 or 8 tasty sweet peas per pod with the last sowing harvesting into the late autumn, an outstanding variety.
