Courgette Zephyr F1 is both unique and delicious. The yellow fruits look as though they have been dipped in pale green at the blossom end. They have a firm texture and a nutty flavour that is enhanced by cooking in a little olive oil or butter. Sometimes the amount of green can vary in hot and dry weather, but the quality of the fruit remains consistent, a real star in the garden and on your plate!
SOW: from late April to end of May, under cover or on a windowsill, 1 seed per pot. Sow on their edge about 1cm deep.
GROW: keep moist, but not waterlogged. Harden off and plant out after all danger of frost has passed. In cooler areas you can protect young plants with cloches until they have settled in. Courgettes are trouble free and prolific - keep picking!
ENJOY: pick from when fruits are 10 to 15cm long, cut lengthways into long strips & pan fry for maximum impact: they are perfect for cooking in this way with their firm texture & nutty flavour that can be brought out with a little olive oil or butter, perhaps with a sprig of sage.
