All New Quartet

Yippee! It’s that exciting time of year where we unveil some of the new varieties we’ve selected to join our seed range.

Now, I know we aren’t normally big fans of banging our own drum, but for once let’s make an exception so I can shout out a big “hello” to these four! And a quick heads up, some are limited to fewer than 20 packets, so if one takes your fancy I wouldn’t hang about!

You’ll spot plenty of other new and tempting choices scattered around the webshop, but these are the four we’re putting in the spotlight right now. And, just to make them even more tempting, there’s a little saving when you buy them together.

Chilli Large Red Cherry: those thick walls make these little chillies just right for stuffing with soft cheese or simply slice them into salads when you want a bit of warmth without taking your head off Red? Definitely. Cherry-shaped? Absolutely. Large? Well... that's rather more debatable! 2500-5000 Scoville HU. (5 seeds)

Leek American Blue Flag: forget the name for a moment because this heirloom’s roots may actually be British! Famously large, hardy and full of flavour, this is a winter leek that deserves a place in the garden. Mild and sweet, it’s brilliant in soups and stews, softened in butter or baked under cheese sauce. (50 seeds)

Strawberry Popcorn: unique, fun and definitely going to get noticed! Each plant can produce several little cobs packed with glorious ruby-red kernels. You could use them ornamentally, but then you’d miss out on the popcorn or wonderfully different cornmeal you could be eating! (20 seeds)

Tomato Black Opal: oh wow! We were blown away by this worthy successor to Black Cherry and my first bite was enough. I fell in love with that rich, complex, sweet-yet-tangy flavour. Add large cherry-sized fruits and the potential for 100+ tomatoes per plant and you can probably see why I’m so excited about this one! (6 seeds)

Four new varieties, four very good reasons to make a little more room in the seed box!
