Tapestry Mix, so named for that wonderful range of colours and forms that stitch themselves together as they grow. Discover 28 annuals that take 6-12 weeks to bloom, creating a resplendent summer work of art. No stitching involved, possibly some snips for some light deadheading. This is gardening that is almost as easy as ‘throw and grow’.

🌸 Flowering: late May to the first frosts
📏 Height: 20-40cm
🌿 Annual Mix

Sow: from March through to June. Choose your patch and weed and prepare the soil to a fine tilth. Mix the seed with about 4g of sharp sand or vermiculite. This makes the seed easier to spread evenly and helps you see where you've sown.
For a relaxed, natural look, broadcast the mixture over the prepared ground. Or make shallow drills and sow in rows, which makes it easier to spot what's a flower and what's an interloping weed!
March sowings may take a little longer to get going in cooler weather. If you're sowing in May or June, keep an eye on watering as young plants will be trying to establish just as the weather could be turning hot and dry.

Grow: once they're up, there really isn't a great deal to do. Water while the young plants establish and during prolonged dry spells. A little deadheading will help keep the display going, but this isn't intended to be a regimented flower bed. Let the different plants mingle, jostle and find their place.

Enjoy: this is where you discover exactly what your Tapestry Mix has woven together! Look out for Linaria, Dwarf Morning Glory, Eschscholzia, annual Alyssum, annual Lupin, Zinnia, Silene, Coreopsis, Dimorphotheca, Sanvitalia... and lots, lots more. With 28 different annuals in the mix, expect colours, heights and flower shapes to change as the summer goes on.
