Helianthus Teddy Bear

Super fluffy Teddy Bear has soft-to-the-touch blooms, each one opens into a golden yellow pom-pom about 15 cm across — almost too large for the neat, compact plants that carry them. This cheerful variety is perfect for borders and patio pots, bringing sunflowers right where you can see and enjoy them. An RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, Teddy Bear has proved itself a reliable, high-performing favourite in gardens of all kinds.

Why choose a dwarf sunflower?
A compact variety like Teddy Bear is perfect for the middle or front of beds and for gardens where taller sunflowers struggle to stay upright. They won’t topple over in patio pots, and you can get up close to admire the blooms without needing a ladder!
SOW: start indoors in February or March in individual pots or modules, about 1cm deep, at around 20°C. Germination takes 1–2 weeks. In milder areas, you can also sow outdoors in April, either in pots or direct where they’re to flower.
GROW: harden off and plant out once frosts have passed, spacing them 20-30cm apart. Keep well-watered and choose a sunny, open spot. Teddy Bear is perfect for the middle or front of beds or patio pots and especially in more exposed gardens where keeping a tall sunflower upright is nigh on impossible 
ENJOY: these short, sturdy plants let you get close to their amazing, multi-petalled blooms. Perfect for brightening the garden or for cutting and bringing indoors.
