April Abundance!

Make the most of April sowing for an abundance of flavour in the months ahead!
With soils warming and days stretching out, seeds leap into life. You can almost watch them grow, full of energy, full of promise, full of flavour to come. This is where it really gets going!
You will enjoy a fabulous range of veggies with this collection. All are in perfectly sized packets for gardeners.  Sow fresh seed this April and your garden will give back to you in abundance!
Calabrese De Cicco – this lovely Italian heirloom keeps on giving, with plenty of succulent side shoots after the small main head. You can be enjoying this tasty choice around 10 weeks from transplanting, so think late June into July from your April sowing. (20 seeds)

Carrot Chantenay Red Cored –a real gardener’s favourite with shorter, smooth roots and excellent texture and taste. It is gorgeous pulled fresh. Sow in April for flavour through August. (150 seeds)

Courgette Atena Polka – perfect for pan frying, adding to omelette or frittata or picking young for salads. The deep golden fruits are easy to spot among the leaves, which always helps when they get going! Cropping from July onwards. (6 seeds)

Kale Black Tuscany – this is the stunning Nero Di Toscano, packed with dark crinkled leaves. Pick young for salads as a cut and come again through summer, then let plants mature for bigger harvests from autumn into winter. (12 seeds)

Kohl Rabi Purple Delicacy – has deep purple skin with crisp white flesh inside, as good as it looks! Trouble free, tolerant of heat and dry spells, and ready from late summer into autumn. You can also harvest earlier for tender salad use. (20 seeds)

Parsnip Guernsey – a ‘half long’ heritage variety from the 1800’s and, even though the name suggests otherwise, it is French in origin! One of the very best roasting varieties, simply terrific. Warm the soil with cloches for a couple of weeks before sowing to give them the best start. (60 seeds)  

      
Sweetcorn Incredible – and it really is! A gourmet variety with superb flavour, strong growth up to around 2.4m, and good tolerance of wetter weather. A proper summer standout. (20 seeds)
