Turkish Rocket

Turkish Rocket is an interesting, unusual, useful, edible and perennial addition to your garden. The immature flowering stems are cooked and used as you would broccoli. Stem tips are scrummy and can be harvested several times in the summer Leaves can give you both the first and last fresh greens of the year in salads or cooked. Mild flavour.

Easy to grow, needs little care and benefits the garden too: the deep tap roots bring nutrients to the surface and the clouds of yellow flowers are loved by hoverflies and bees. It thrives in dappled shade and is very happy in full sun. This unfussy plant feeds you and your garden.

Sow: from March to July or later in the year in August/September.  You can start the seeds indoors, under glass or in situ.  We think they are best sown into deep pots or root trainers.  They can take a month to germinate.  Once they have two or 3 sets of proper leaves they can be hardened off ready to plant out.
