These beautiful stripy orange-yellow fruits have a tangy-sweet flavour. Tigerella is one salad variety that we always try to make room for ourselves, even with all the other wonderful choices available. Why? Well I have to say the looks – fun and stands out amongst a bowl of mixed tomatoes – followed by the flavour (somewhere between acid and sweet, not too much either way), its reliability (forms the first fruits early on in its life) but also this is a variety that responds distinctly to its growing conditions… it is easy to grow however you can hone your growing skills on getting the best results from Tigerella. Indeterminate.
This variety is part of our naturally nurtured range, the seed comes from an organic source.
Tigerella is an AGM winner - outstanding in trials, reliable and with great garden performance
SOW: about 6-8 weeks before the last frost is expected sowing in modules, seed depth 5mm, cover & put on a windowsill. Once germinated uncover and then transplant to pots when large enough to handle and grow on until ready to harden off and plant after frost danger has passed.
GROW: Tigerella likes warmth: plant in the greenhouse, a conservatory or against a warm fence or wall in a sunny sheltered part of your garden. For the best flavour keep soil evenly damp (don’t over-water or overfeed it will affect the flavour and texture). Tigerella, being indeterminate, can grow tall and will need supporting. It will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season. There is no need to pinch out the side shoots unless you prefer to do so.
EAT & ENJOY: wonderful on their own, in a mixed tomato bowl or sliced.
