Shirley F1 is a top selling salad tom. With its heavy yields of deep red lovely flavoured and textured fruits, it has become one of the nation’s favourites. It is an excellent choice for greenhouse growing and a splendid variety if you want to exhibit. This variety will not disappoint you. Indeterminate.
SOW: about 6-8 weeks before the last frost is expected sowing in modules (cover or put on a windowsill). We transplant to pots when large enough to handle and grow on until ready to harden off and plant after frost danger has passed.
GROW: best in the greenhouse but can be tried outside in a very sheltered garden. For the best flavour keep soil evenly damp & don’t overfeed. Being indeterminate Shirley can grow tall and will need supporting. It will bloom, set new fruit and ripen fruit all at the same time throughout the season. There is no need to pinch out the side shoots unless you prefer to do so.
