Tomato Marglobe has smooth, firm, tasty fruits that have been loved since the 1920s. The flavour is lovely and the plants cope well with damp summers. This heirloom variety is often cited as a parent of many modern hybrids because of its excellent qualities. A top tom choice.  BLIGHT TOLERANT Determinate
SOW: start about 6–8 weeks before the last frost is expected. Sow in modules and cover lightly or place on a sunny windowsill. Transplant to pots when large enough to handle, then grow on until ready to harden off and plant out once the risk of frost has passed.
GROW: plant in a sunny, sheltered part of your garden or in a pot.  Marglobe also does well in a greenhouse. For the best flavour, keep the soil evenly damp and avoid overfeeding. Being determinate, the plants stop growing once fruit sets on the top bud, and all the fruits ripen over a short window of about one to two weeks.
ENJOY: lovely eaten fresh in salads and sandwiches.  Makes super preserves too.
Determinate tomatoes like Marglobe are perfect for turning part of your crop into paste or sauce to keep for winter and early spring. In America, this is often called canning, even though the tomatoes are stored in glass jars — a nod to the industrial method of preserving them.
