SOW: from February to April, sow on the surface of seed compost in trays and cover lightly with perlite, vermiculite or a fine layer of compost. Pop the tray in a plastic bag or propagator and keep at around 18–20°C. Germination usually takes 1–2 weeks. Pot on into modules or small pots once large enough to handle.
GROW: when seedlings reach about 10cm tall, harden off and plant out at 15–20cm apart. They like a sunny spot and will flower for ages with regular deadheading — great for edging veg beds or tucking into containers.
ENJOY: the petals have a subtle citrus flavour—perfect for scattering on salads or fish dishes. Plant a patch near your veg garden and enjoy the bonus of visiting bees and beneficial insects.
