Sweet Pea Daphne displays delicate, clear lavender blooms with a deeper flush at the base. Slightly frilled and highly scented, it’s a very free-flowering variety with long stems — ideal for cutting and bringing indoors.

🌸 Flowering: June to August

📏 Height: to 180cm

🌿Annual

SOW
Sow in deep pots from October to February and overwinter in a cold frame, or sow in March or April. In mild areas, you can also direct sow in spring. Sow seeds 12–20mm deep. Some gardeners soak seeds overnight before sowing to help with germination — not essential, but worth a try.

GROW
Pinch out the tops when seedlings reach about 5cm to encourage stronger side shoots. Harden off spring-sown plants before planting out in May or June. Overwintered plants often flower earlier. Give them something to climb — wigwams, netting or hazel twigs all work well. Sweet peas are generous with blooms if you keep picking, so don’t hold back.

ENJOY
Your sweet peas will keep flowering through the season with regular picking, extra watering, and a high-potash feed (tomato fertiliser works well) will help them to do their best for you.

SOW & GROW: either in October for overwintering in a cold frame, Jan-Feb under glass or sow in March or April in deep pots or direct sow in mild areas in the spring. Soaking the seed overnight before sowing can improve germination. Harden off your spring sown plants before planting out in May/June for blooms from July. Overwintered sweet peas will flower earlier than this. Provide support for them to climb, grow them with climbing beans to attract pollinators. Keep picking to encourage further flowers.

ENJOY: your sweet peas will respond to extra watering and feeding with a high potash plant food (tomato fertilizer is ideal) to keep flowering throughout the season
