To be an AGM winner means that this variety has been outstanding in trials: it is sturdy, reliable and with great garden performance
SOW & GROW: from late March to early June starting from when the soil has warmed a little (you can use cloches to help if needed). Prepare their position by raking to a fine consistency and remember to sow very thinly – or station sow 24-30cm apart. Keep weeded and water in dry weather otherwise they will not thrive, thin them out if necessary. You main harvest will be in November and December but early sowings will be ready a little earlier.
EAT & ENJOY: lift swedes when they are grapefruit sized: most varieties will grow larger but we think they are at their tastiest at this stage. Slice or cube and roast like parsnips or add to stews and casseroles. We also like them mashed – peel before cooking.
