Parade is a strong-growing spring onion with straight, slim white stems topped by fresh green leaves. It doesn't bulb, so you can leave it to grow on while keeping that classic spring onion shape, and the juicy stems have a lovely flavour. It's a versatile variety too, with a long sowing season and the option to overwinter later crops with protection.

Sow: from March to August in the open, with February, September and October sowings given protection. Sow a small pinch into modules or individually into plugs for transplanting, or sow sparingly in situ, 10–15mm deep. Sow a little every 2–3 weeks for crops throughout the season. You could even alternate sowings with another of our spring onion varieties for a bit of variety in your harvests.
Grow: if you've sown in modules or plugs, transplant the young onions once they're growing strongly. Keep them watered during dry spells and pull as needed, from pencil slim onwards. Allow around 12 weeks for mature spring onions.
Enjoy: juicy and crisp, Parade is perfect sliced into salads. Any surplus is easy to freeze too. Cut into strips and freeze, ready to add straight to stir-fries and other Asian-inspired dishes throughout the year.
