Vigorous British bred Marksman stands out in the garden and kitchen.  The upright growth and non-bulbing habit are combined with a milder flavour, the outer leaf is eminently peelable making for fast preparation before you sink your teeth into them.  Delicious sliced or diced in your salads or used in your cooking.  With sowing from May but don’t overlook this disease resistant variety for later sowings for an autumn crop.

SOW: in situ from March to August in the open at no deeper than 1cm.  Later sowings in September will need to be protected by cloches as the weather changes. Sow sparingly to minimise thinning For a succession of salad onions you will need to sow every 3-4 weeks.

GROW: keep them weeded and if the weather is very hot and dry then water regularly. Pull as needed.  This variety copes well with the changing weather in the autumn and is a top choice at this time of the year.

ENJOY: simply peel off the outer leaves for a clean white slim shank to add to salads or cooked dishes.  Dice and freeze for adding to a stir-fry during the winter.
