Helios F1, named after the ancient Greek god of the sun, it is no surprise that this is a super summer spinach: bolt resistant with lovely flavoured oval leaves that don’t easily bruise…perfect for salads or for cooking, happy days.
Sow: between March and September, seed depth 10-15mm. They prefer to germinate in cool soil. In hotter weather consider germinating in shaded conditions & transplanting carefully. Sow spinach every 3-4 weeks for a continuous supply.
Grow: when growing for baby leaves your plants can be 3cm apart, if you want larger plants then harvest selectively to leave a wider spacing of 12cm to give them room to grow!
Enjoy: Helios leaves do not bruise easily so they are a great choice for salads. Their upright growth means that soil splash is minimal, and those leaves won’t suffer when washing them anyway. Cook mature spinach (eat or choose to freeze).
