Penstemon ‘Jingle Bells’ features long spikes of bold, scarlet bell-shaped flowers that bloom throughout the summer. This semi-evergreen plant can grow quite tall if left uncut. It’s excellent for cutting, and you’ll still have plenty of blooms to share with the bees.
🌸 Flowering: June to early September
📏 Height: to 180cm
🌿Perennial
SOW
From February to late March, sow in modules or seed trays. Cover lightly with perlite or vermiculite and keep in a warm spot around 18°C. Germination takes 2–3 weeks. Pot on after about 5 weeks and keep frost-free.
GROW
Plant out from late May in a sunny, well-drained spot. You might see some flowers the first year, but let the plants establish before cutting back. Mulch around them in winter for protection. Left uncut, this semi-evergreen can reach 180cm tall—trim as needed.
ENJOY:
Cut the vibrant scarlet blooms to brighten your home, while leaving plenty on the plant to keep the bees happy all summer long.
