As Oasis plants grow just 60-70cm tall the crop that you get is impressive both in yield and tenderness. This British bred variety has an AGM so you know that is a top quality maincrop choice. It also ‘does’ really well on the heavy soils that so many of our gardens seem to feature! As far as that 'yield' is concerned - Oasis is the gold standard that all other pea varieties are compared to but few match or exceed - if you want the most peas from your plot choose Oasis.
To be an AGM winner means that this variety has been outstanding in trials: reliable and with great garden performance
SOW: from March to June, in a mild area a sowing in July can extend your harvest into October. Maincrop peas such as Oasis take about 14 weeks from sowing to harvest. We start all our peas in pots. Sowing in guttering to be slid into place has become popular. They can be sown in situ but wait until the soil has stated to warm up.
GROW: pot sown plants need to be hardened off before planting out. Oasis is a really good choice if your soil is on the heavy side. Peas like moisture and will tolerate light shade. This variety needs minimal support as it produces masses of intertwining tendrils and only grows to about 70cm tall. Water in dry summers, increasing the amount a little once they have started to flower. Pick regularly to encourage more growth.
ENJOY: for plants that grow just 60-70cm tall you will find you have plenty to eat and enjoy –fresh home grown peas are unbeatable.
