Pea Ezeta's Krombek Blauwschokker

A productive, tall growing mangetout, Ezeta’s Krombek Blauwschokker has striking purple pods. This versatile variety can be used in three ways: pick young as a mangetout, later on for its delicious green peas and finally it can be left to mature to give you dried peas.  Ezeta's K.B. will need supporting as it can reach 150-200cm tall.

SOW

From March to June. We start our peas 3 per pot, to give them a fighting chance against the mice, you can also sow in situ.

GROW

Pot grown plants need to be hardened off before planting out. Peas like moisture and will tolerate light shade. Water in dry summers. Ezeta’s Krombek Blauwschokker is a tall variety (150-200cm) and will need support. Harvest the pods for mangetout once they reach 5cm – leave them for longer and they will swell for use as green peas after shelling. Picking regularly encourages the plants to produce more pods. At the end of the season allow the pods to mature and dry (if necessary pull up the plant and hang upside down to finish drying).

EAT & ENJOY

Lightly steam mangetout or serve raw (crunchy & sweet) in a salad. You can store dried peas in an airtight container: do remember to soak them overnight before use
