Ambassador is an excellent vigorous semi leafless type for easy picking. It puts up with bad weather, yet still gives high yields of sweet tender peas. This maincrop is generally sown between March to May but it can be sown as late as July for use in October so an excellent choice to extend your season.
SOW: in March to May however sowing in June and July will also give you a successful crop: indeed a sowing in July can extend your harvest into October. We start all our peas in pots. Sowing in guttering to be slid into place has become popular. They can be sown in situ but wait until the soil has stated to warm up. Sowing every 4-5 weeks will give you fresh peas over the whole season.
GROW: pot sown plants need to be hardened off before planting out. Peas like moisture and will tolerate light shade. Water in dry summers, increasing the amount a little once they have started to flower. Pick regularly to encourage more growth.
ENJOY: it is very unusual for our pea crop to get as far as the kitchen – shelled and eaten as they are picked! Ambassador is a top-quality choice for cooking or freezing
