Sunshyu Yellow is an overwintering onion. This is a super variety to give you a lovely crop of classic straw coloured onions in late June and July of next year. Hardy and reliable, this has proved to be an ideal choice for a Japanese overwintering onion, we highly recommend this variety.
SOW: in August & early September (not in spring), sparingly 1cm deep in rows about 30cm apart directly into their growing position. You can also start this variety in seed trays to plant out in October.
GROW: space at, or thin out, 7-10cm apart for medium bulbs or wider for slightly larger bulbs. Keep well-watered as the bulb swells. Harvest May - June
ENJOY: perfect choice for eating fresh to start your onion harvest, a lovely mild flavour making them a gorgeous ingredient for summer salads or indeed for cooking.
