Mizuna Red Empire F1

Red Empire F1 is the darkest of mizunas: looks stunning in mixed salads. The striking deep red colour shows very early: on the cotyledons as well as the proper leaves. Pick from baby leaf to full size.

SOW:  in modules from February to October but chilly early and late sowing need to grow with protection from prolonged rain or snow.  Sow for baby leaf on a windowsill at any time of the year.

GROW:  transplant at the 2/3 leaf stage and space at 10cm for small plants or up to 30cm if you want to grow larger plants.   This beautiful plant can start making its way to your plate in as little as 3 weeks as a baby leaf!  Pick individual leaves or for cut-and-come-again simply cut whole plant 5cm above ground – these can resprout 4 or 5 times.  

ENJOY: for salad use whole young leaves or shred larger leaves.  You can also steam, stir fry or use the leaves in soups.
