Long Green Bush marrows are very early mature and is is a very popular variety. It will produce large dark green fruit with pale stripes. It can be cut young at courgette size (10-15cm) or left to mature. It has an excellent taste when lightly cooked.
SOW: inside in April/ May in individual pots
GROW: keep moist and warm, ready to harden off and plant out when at 2/3 leaf stage. Keep plants weeded and well-watered, mulch if possible. Feed with an organic feed if they are not producing much fruit. This variety can be cut young at courgette size (10-15cm) or left to mature.
ENJOY: an excellent taste when lightly cooked. With a short fresh season marrows are a good choice for freezing. To freeze: peel, cut into rings or dice, blanch, drain, dry & freeze. Cooked diced from frozen. The rings can be stuffed while frozen then baked in the usual way adding an extra 5-10 minutes cooking time or thaw first.
