Marigold Crackerjack Mix is a tall African type with very large, fully double flowers in a wide mix of colours. Bold and bright, they’re perfect for growing among your veggies or in your borders—supporting a more resilient, balanced garden by attracting pollinators and helping keep pests at bay.
🌸 Flowering: June to October
📏 Height: to 60cm
🌿Annual
SOW
From March to April, sow seeds in trays with seed compost. Cover lightly with perlite, vermiculite, or a thin layer of compost. Seal the tray in a plastic bag to keep the moisture in, and keep it warm at about 18–20°C. Germination usually takes 1–2 weeks. Once the seedlings are big enough to handle, pot them up into modules.
GROW
When they’re about 10cm tall, harden off and plant out around 30cm apart. Keep them in a sunny spot. To keep the blooms coming, deadhead regularly—just pinch off the old flowers before they go to seed.
ENJOY
Bold and bright in the garden or cut a few and bring that colour indoors in a vase.
BONUS BENEFITS
Marigolds attract helpful pollinators like bees and hoverflies, and their scent helps repel pests such as aphids and nematodes, making them great companions for your vegetables.
