Westland Winter has a lovely flavour. It is very high yielding and will stand up to the harshest of winter weather. It is one of the larger kales and well worth finding a space for it to to grow.
This variety is part of our naturally nurtured range, the seed comes from an organic source
SOW: mid to late spring: in modules, pots or a seed bed, seed depth 10-15mm.
GROW: transplant to permanent position in early/mid-summer at 60-80cm apart and water well to establish
ENJOY: from the autumn onwards by cutting young leaves when 10-15cm long, cut from several plants for an adequate picking. Regular harvesting encourages young growth over a longer period. In late winter early spring harvest the sideshoots at 10-12cm. Stop when flowers buds form. Kale can be enjoyed in salad, soup, stew and stir fry! Best eaten fresh, you can store it in a poly bag in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze it. Flower buds can also be cooked
