Lovely Kale Kadet can be harvested for ages. From the summer as a salad leaf, through the autumn as a cooking green and then on into the winter. It’s a really good hardy variety, surviving down to -15C. If your garden is exposed or you are in a more northerly location Kadet could be your top choice. In fact, it’s a good choice everywhere, the very blistered and curled leaves are a tasty addition whilst its upright habit is perfect for limited spaces.
SOW & GROW: May to July, 10-15mm deep in seed trays or modules. When the plants are 10-15cm tall carefully plant out into their final position. Kadet plants don’t spread out as much as some varieties so you can space them 30-50cm apart. The plants can reach 60-80cm tall.
ENJOY: lots of eating from this one versatile kale. With a larger plot grow it alongside a red kale choice, Emerald Ice and Black Tuscany for a kale patch of enviable variety and flavour.
