This is a lovely compact variety, it has an abundance of dark green curly leaves that grow from the centre of each plant. Fine flavoured and hardy.
SOW: in mid to late spring, start them in modules, pots or a seed bed.
GROW: transplant in early/mid-summer at 40-50cm after hardening off, water well to establish. For salad use pick as a baby leaf or treat as a cut-&-come-again. For larger leaves harvest from the autumn onwards by cutting young leaves (10-15cm long) from several plants. Regular harvesting encourages young growth over a longer period. In late winter/early spring harvest the side shoots at 10-12cm. Stop when flowers buds form.
ENJOY: can be used in salad, soup, stew and stir fry – steam, boil or braise it. We think kale is at its best when eaten soon after picking. Flower buds can be cooked too.
