Fodder Radish is a hardworking, medium-term green manure that grows fast and keeps going. It’s leafy, quick to establish, and can be left in place over winter to protect and feed the soil. Tough and adaptable, it’s happy in just about any soil type.
Make the most of Fodder Radish
Sow between early April and late August. It gets to work quickly & helps to break up the soil, the tap roots help to bring up nutrients from deeper in the ground. It is leafy, which smothers weeds, and provides lots of organic matter to dig in or to compost. Good to use a a medium term green manure: simply leave it over the winter to die down before digging in and it locks in nutrients for spring planting.
