Flower Sprouts 'Petit Posy' are real showstoppers in the garden—tall, purple plants topped with frilly little florets. They’re as versatile as they are good-looking: steam, stir-fry, sauté, microwave or braise. A brilliant seasonal veg for late autumn and winter.
The flavour’s milder than standard sprouts—sweet, tasty, with a hint of kale nuttiness. As it’s an open-pollinated variety, you might get the odd green plant popping up too!
SOW: Start in modules or pots from February to April. Sow seeds about 10–15mm deep.
GROW: harden off once plants are around 15cm tall, then plant into firm soil. Early transplants might need a bit of protection—cloches or fleece can help. Space them 50–75cm apart; they’ll need the room by autumn, but early on you can interplant with fast-growing or cut-and-come-again crops. As this is an open-pollinated variety, you may get the occasional green plant.
ENJOY: start picking from October, working from the lowest 'flowers' upwards. Flavour is milder than sprouts—sweet, tasty, with a hint of kale nuttiness. Cook them however you like:
Steam: 5–6 mins
Stir-fry: 2–3 mins
Microwave: 2–3 mins
Also great sautéed or braised.
