Dahlia Cactus features large, double blooms with pointed petals that give these flowers their unique ‘cactus’ look.
🌸 Flowering: July to October
📏 Height: to 60cm
🌿 Annual.
SOW: sow seeds in pots or modules with seed compost during March to April. Lightly cover the seeds, then seal the pots inside a plastic bag. This keeps the moisture in and makes a warm, humid mini greenhouse—perfect for helping seeds sprout faster. Keep them at around 18°C. Seeds usually pop up in 1–2 weeks. Once they’ve germinated, take the bag off so the seedlings don’t get too damp.
GROW: when the seedlings are ready, harden them off and plant them out, spacing plants about 40–50cm apart.
ENJOY: these fabulous blooms brighten your garden from summer into autumn. Plus, the petals are EDIBLE— use them to garnish salads, decorate cakes, or serve with cheese and puddings.
