Cosmos Daydream becomes covered with masses of dreamy delicate flowers all summer long and into the autumn too: each has a central ring of deepest rose moving outwards to shades of pale pink and finally a creamy white edge. Simply deadhead to prolong flowering and encourage new flower buds and when you reach the season's end, don't be too quick to pull them up as birds (in particular Goldfinches) love to snack on their seedheads.
Height to 100cm
Annual
Price for 50 seeds
SOW: in spring in trays of seed compost. Barely cover with compost or vermiculite. Prick out when they reach the two-leaf stage and grow on. Can be sown in situ May/June.
GROW: harden off and plant out at from the end of May onwards. For clumps space 10-20cm apart. They like to be in a sunny position. Cosmos flowers best on poorer soil. They may need staking.
ENJOY: keep cutting the blooms and new buds will pop up to replace them. Nectar & pollen rich for bees and butterflies with autumn seedheads for birds
