Strongly flavoured Santos combines all the qualities that you could want – first that excellent flavour, then the upright habit that makes cutting easy from beginning to end, and finally this is a more resistant to running to seed. If you like Asian, Chinese or Mexican flavours then grow Santos – sow every few weeks from mid-spring to late summer for the freshest continuous cut-and-grow-again leafy crop with the next plants ready as soon as earlier ones run out of steam. Annual
SPRING: sow directly into the soil in a shallow drill, covering with fine soil or compost. Avoid planting in seed trays as coriander doesn’t like being transplanted. Sow every few weeks for the freshest leafy crop with the next plants ready as soon as earlier ones run out of steam.
SUMMER: a last sowing in June. Harvest leaves when plants are large enough. For repeated cutting make sure you cut above the lower leaf nodes so that it can resprout.
AUTUMN & WINTER: sow in pots in the autumn to grow on indoors for fresh leaves over the winter. Dig up old plants ready for sowing next year.
